Driver arrested for DUI in crash that injured Metro officer

LAS VEGAS - A police officer was injured in a crash in the southwest part of the valley Friday morning. The crash happened shortly after 4 a.m. near Durango Drive and Tropicana Avenue.

Metro says the officer was on a motorcycle, when a sedan rear-ended him. The driver of the vehicle, 19-year-old David Williams, was arrested for DUI drugs and could be facing more charges, Metro Police said.

The officer was taken to University Medical Center. According to police, he was conscious and speaking at the time of his transport. The officer suffered neck, leg and back injuries, but is expected to be okay. He was treated and released.

Police shut down the intersection of Tropicana and Durango for six hours to conduct their investigation.
